Radcliffe manor house and tower

Radcliffe tower is the final piece that remains of the manor house in Greater Manchester. Literally it is the last piece that remains.

Radcliffe manor house was rebuilt by James De Radcliffe in 1403, he was lord of the manor of Radcliffe. He built two towers, one made out of stone and the rest made out of wood. This was to give the appearance of wealth when in reality, he could only afford half of it to be made of stone.

The manor house was demolished in the 19th century and the tower was left standing.
